Made-to-measure mink coats in Colmenar Viejo
The most prized fur in fine furriery: short, dense hair with a lustre no other fur has. Natural, sheared or plucked, in long coats, short coats, frock coats and stoles.
How it is worked
Three finishes: natural, with all its hair; sheared, with the hair cut to an even height, lighter and more modern; and plucked, with the guard hair removed so that only the underfur remains, wonderfully soft. Both shearing and plucking give a much lighter mink coat, softer to the touch, more comfortable and easier to wear. An old mink coat can also be sheared or plucked.
How to care for it
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, excessive humidity and direct heat. Perfume, perspiration and spilt liquids can damage the garment: have it professionally cleaned once a year, drummed and brushed, which gives the hair back its fall and its shine. And from 1 May to 15 November, keep it in cold storage: the heat at home dries out the pelt, and moths do not survive the cold.

Questions about mink
How long does a mink coat last?
Well looked after and kept in cold storage every summer, for decades.
Can I inherit a mink and have it altered to my size?
Yes. It is taken apart, re-patterned to your measurements and put together again. That is a remodelling.
What if moths have got to it?
It depends on the damage. Send us a photo and we will tell you whether it can be repaired and what it would cost.
Is it heavy?
Natural mink, somewhat. Sheared or plucked, it weighs much less, and this can also be done on a coat you already own.
